Trek with a purpose. Changing the world one step at a time.
We are a small family business based in Kathmandu. The Everest Holiday is registered with the Government of Nepal under 147653/072/073, holds Nepal Tourism Licence 2838/072, is a member of TAAN (number 1586), and is affiliated with the Nepal Mountaineering Association and KEEP. My grandfather Hari Lal handled logistics back in the expedition days, before commercial trekking even existed in Nepal. He is where our vision started. My father Ganesh built it into a proper trekking outfit, and today I run it with my wife Shamjhana. We are not a big company and we are not trying to become one. After our family's basic living costs are covered, the rest of what we earn goes into the charity work we do under Nagarjun Learning Center: running 7 learning centres across Nepal, supporting partner schools and health posts, and a lot of smaller projects in between. That is the whole reason we are still doing this.
Where the money goes
We directly support 70 children at the Saldum Village Learning Center in Dhading, where they receive free education and a hot meal every school day. Through the wider Nagarjun Learning Center programme we run 7 learning centres across Nepal, help fund more than 15 partner schools and 7 health posts, have provided free medical care to over 600 people, brought first ever internet access to 65 kids in Saldum, and reached 160 women through empowerment programmes. The centre is verified and listed on the UN Partner Portal. When you book a trek with us you are not paying a marketing budget or a foreign reseller's cut. You are paying for guides, porters, lodges, and the rest goes into the work above.
Direct booking, direct payment
You book and pay us directly through our website using Himalayan Bank's payment gateway. HBL is Nepal's most trusted commercial bank, established in 1993. No Booking.com markup, no middleman commission, no surprise fees. The price you see is the price we get, and that is what makes the rest of this possible.
