Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is popularized as "the dream city" throughout the country. It is pretty unique compared to the other capitals of the world, as it isn't covered in smooth roads, soaring skyscrapers and super fancy infrastructures. Although it's pretty developed compared to other cities and has many fancy malls and restaurants, the real beauty of this city lies in its bustling markets, colorful gallis (nooks), traditional temples, and age-old monuments. The buzzing city has been able to captivate many tourists, and stay at their hearts over the years.

Kathmandu is a really diverse city. There are places like Thamel and Durbar Marg, two posh places to be at. Clad in fancy shopping stalls and lavish restraunts, they bring out the nightlife of Kathmandu and many tourists indulge themselves in these places through the night. On the other hand, there are places like New road and Bouddha, a maze-like series of gallis, lit up in numerous small shops, and spicy food stalls. Mo:Mo and Laphen are the must haves in these places. Also, being the trade hub of the country, it is definitely the place to shop your heart out. Apart from these, there are many places of architectural, natural and cultural places in and around this city, all located at only a few hours of drive away from each other. To name a few, Pashupatinath, Bouddha Nath, Swayambhu, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar Squares, Balaju, and many many more. There is so much to explore in this town, which is not quite as big in terms of area. But that is what makes it all the more fascinating. It specially buzzes around festivals like Lhosar, Shivaratri and Teej, where Kathmandu is swarming with visitors from in and out of country.

Kathmandu is a city full of life, buzzing everyday with the variety of leisure and knowledge it has to offer. The people here, who go in their day to day life with enthusiasm and wide smiles on their faces definitely revs up the charm of this place. Once in Nepal, it is definitely a place where you should take at least a day off to roam around.
